The project saw 45 all in two solar street lights installed along the Bass Coast Rail Trail, including lights in the car park and community space behind Apex Park, between McKenzie Street and South Dudley Road.
The lights operate at full brightness from dusk for five hours and then they are programmed to dim down for three hours to conserve power.
If movement is detected while the lights are dimmed, the built-in internal sensors trigger the light to full brightness for 30 seconds.
Not only do these all in two solar street lights improve visibility at night and increase overall access and convenience, but they give trail users a sense of security and increase the opportunity for physical exercise.
